When the first player has got rid of all their cards then they are considered to have won the round and they can pick up all the points from the other players according to what cards they have left. Players of Mattel Uno Extreme that are not able to lay down a card by a corresponding suit card, number card or symbol card have to pick up a card from the main deck of cards when playing the original version of Uno. In Uno Extreme, however, you must press the button on the gadget that dispenses the cards and it will choose a suitable penalty for you.

I first thought this was a gimmick but I realise now how it plays an important function making outcome of the game varied and erratic. We all know this unpredictability is what makes games hard to put down. It is also this fact that makes this game fun for all the family and you could have a five year old compete against adults as both have opportunity to win equally.
